Ready, set, dessert!
For this Blueberry Grunt recipe, you will need the following ingredients.
4 cups of fresh blueberries (we recommend purchasing organic and fresh blueberries from local farmers)
¾ - 1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon of lemon or lime juice
2 cups all-purpose flour
2-4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/ of butter
¾ - 1 cup of milk
Vanilla ice cream, optional
Add the combinations of sugar, water, and blueberries in a medium to large pan and use a spoon to stir and mix these ingredients. Cover and leave to boil until the blueberries obtain consistency of a jam.
Once the desired consistency is achieved, remove the pan from the heated stove and add the lemon or lime juice along with cinnamon. Leave on the stove at very low heat.
In a bowl, pour in the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and mix. Add butter and milk. Mix once more until a soft dough is formed.
Using a teaspoon, scoop the dough and drop them into the blueberry mixture until you have a desired amount of dough in the mix.
Increase the heat on the pan from very low to medium and cover it. After 15 minutes of simmering, using a toothpick poke into one of the doughs. Do not remove the pan from the heat until the toothpick comes out clean after poking the dough. That’s how you will know the dough has been baked to perfection.
Serve the Blueberry grunt on a plate or bowl and add a scoop of iced cream on the side and enjoy!
